Dispatch from Acton University
One Lecture and a lot of networking
This week is Acton University 2026!
For those who don’t know, Acton University is not a university but a three-and-a-half-day conference about the intersection of faith, economics, and liberty.
Every year, Acton brings together scholars, professionals, pastors, and students to discuss the foundations of a free and virtuous society. (Someone should write a book about that.)
Oh yeah, that was my first book, published by Acton in 2017.
I have been spending most of my time networking with old and new friends.
On Tuesday morning, I attended Fr. Gregory Jensen’s lecture on consumerism and asceticism. Years ago, I edited Fr. Gregory’s monograph on the topic, The Cure for Consumerism. It’s a great little book.
Wednesday morning, I gave a lecture on Orthodox Christian social thought, based on my book The Kingdom of God and the Common Good. The room was full and the Q&A (always my favorite part) was wonderful.
I also met a Bulgarian Orthodox journalist, Atanas, who interviewed me. I’m not sure in what form it will be published, but I will be sure to share it here when it is.
Another year in the books. Over 900 people from over 80 countries. Maybe I’ll see you there next year!
Until next week,
Dylan
